Watch: Smart Mat Tips (1 min)

  • Orient the Smart Mat – the Strike Point hole is offset for a smart reason. For 17 & over handicaps, the longest section of the mat should be behind the ball. For 16 & under handicaps, the longest section of the mat should be in front of the ball. Set the Smart Mat down behind the ball and tamp it down with your club head to anchor it. The angled feet and mild contour do the work – no further anchoring needed.
  • Use your club head to roll the ball back along the channel to the Strike Point hole. It's now virtually a natural lie because the base of your ball is actually touching the grass beneath. No other portable mat can give you such a low & natural lie.
  • Grip and swing as you normally would, striking the ball, then the mat. You can backspin, draw and fade shots, all without changing your off-turf technique.
  • Wipe the mat dry and slip it into your jacket or hip pocket. Dry & warm means optimum divot feedback, product performance and durability.
  • Tees come in L & XL lengths. Insert the tee snugly into the mat while standing, then place your ball on the tee, holding it with your thumb and two fingers, as you would with a normal tee. Only then lean over and set the whole unit down on the turf together. It’s so fast & easy to tee up on frozen teeing grounds.
